THIS SATURDAY: WRESTLING UNDER THE STARS 3

It's that time of the year again, as Northeast Wrestling is gearing up fast for Saturday's "Wrestling Under The Stars III" event at the legendary Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, NY. As one of the "voices" of Northeast Wrestling, I cannot wait to soak in the sights and sounds at "The Dutch" before settling in to call the entire night's action for what will undoubtedly be a hugely-popular DVD release. If you haven't made your plans yet to join us, do it now…. And make sure you get here early. Between our gigantic meet & greet with all of the card's superstars, refreshments and merchandise, you'll want to bring all of your friend and family to hang out all day and all night long. Those autograph and picture lines can grow very quickly, so get here early to give yourself time to get up, close and personal with everyone!

As far as the actual wrestling card, I strongly believe that we are looking at "Wrestling Under The Star's" strongest lineup yet, and it's all headlined by what could be this era's ultimate tag team dream match between the reuniting Hardys and the internationally-dominant Young Bucks. It's a match that sells itself, as the debuting Bucks are today's fastest-rising young team of high-flying brothers. Their evolved style of fast-paced synchronicity has changed the face of the sport and allowed them to dominate everywhere from California to Tokyo. Sound familiar? Of course it does, because the excitement generated by Matt and Nick Jackson is identical to what the wrestling world felt when Matt and Jeff Hardy first emerged from Cameron, North Carolina and became the team to watch. Clearly, the former World Tag Champions have been a huge influence on the Jacksons, but there's just one problem: the Hardys are back, better than ever, and truly motivated to prove that they are still the best (and most exciting) team in the world. Both of these amazing duos have something to prove, and that should make for a very special match in what could be a one-of-a-kind opportunity.

The more things change, the more they stay the same for Jerry "The King" Lawler. Monday nights is when this all-time legend come to broadcast, but Northeast Wrestling is where he comes to do what he does best: wrestle, and with his reputation and fame, he's never at a loss for opponents looking to grab headlines by taking him down. However, I'm not sure he's ever faced anyone like Kevin Steen, a world-traveled superstar whose brash attitude and controversial reputation have kept him far from Northeast Wrestling in the past. Now, on the cusp of national notoriety, Steen has successfully goaded Lawler into demanding this confrontation between the two masters of the dangerous piledriver. While Lawler knows all of the tricks in the book, Steen's utter disregard for rules, regulations or the well-being of his peers could make for "The King's" toughest challenge yet...especially since Steen has absolutely everything to gain and nothing to lose by dropping Lawler on his head and taking him out.

I'm feeling the winds of change coming for the Northeast Wrestling Championship currently held by Brian Anthony. Yes, he's approaching three full years with the gold. Sure, his army of fans is growing by the day. Yup, he's created some of the most spectacular moments in "Wrestling Under The Stars" history (over the past two years, he's battled through rainstorms, scaled bleachers and even leapt from the top of dugouts during these outdoor events). So why is he possibly in serious trouble this year? Simply put, holding onto a championship is even tougher than winning it, and whether he'll admit it or not, Anthony's mission to become the hardest-working titleholder in NEW has led him to put his body through countless ladder matches, tables matches, and cage matches against the toughest competition he could find – probably to his own physical detriment. Meanwhile, his two challengers for Saturday night's three way match: the opportunistic-yet-talented Caleb Konley and former WWE standout Matt "Evan Bourne" Sydal are fresh, focused and ready to make history. After all, Conley's been closer than anyone to taking the gold from Anthony in the past, and Sydal has moved from the injured list to 100% healed, primed and ready to compete on a higher level than ever before. If Anthony is to find a way to once again defy the odds and emerge victorious, he'll need to dig deep and fight with his heart. That's never been a problem for him in the past- but this time, will it be enough?

As a privileged member of the Northeast Wrestling broadcast team for the past eight years, it's been fun to watch the evolution of the championship scene. I'll never forget 2010's "Wrestlefest 14" supercard in Poughkeepsie, NY. On that card, a once-of-a-kind five-way match was held with the gold on the line. While the field included then-champion Paul London and former Champion Jason Blade, the young combatants who ended up surviving and battling it out for that title were rising superstars Matt Taven and Mike Bennett. The entire building knew that, regardless of who'd end up the winner, we were witnessing the dawn of a new era (Taven won the title and held it for two unbelievable years, by the way). Four years later, their parallel career paths continue. Both men have become household names, both men found themselves some gorgeous "reinforcements" (in the form of Taven's main squeeze, Kasey Ray, and Bennett's fiancé, former WWE Diva Maria Kannelis), and both men have yet to truly prove which of the two is truly the better man. This Saturday, with the ladies urging their men on, we just might finally find out.

One former champion who knows all about gutting it out is none other than WWE Hall-of-Famer "Bret "The Hitman" Hart, who will be on hand for both Saturday's meet & greet and the evening's wrestling event. "The Hitman" is on many fans' "Mount Rushmore" of the greatest pro wrestlers of all time, and his influence on the superstars of today and tomorrow only gets stronger. His appearance will make the entire night that much more special – especially when you consider that his old manager, Jimmy "The Mouth of the South" Hart, will be in the house as well.

While fans will certainly be lined up all day long to get a glimpse of the famous "Pink and Black Attack", I assure you that the reaction to the pink-adorned Platinum Entourage won't be nearly as positive. Regardless, I hear that J-Busta and his crew are planning a huge private afterparty if he can pull off a win over former WWE dancin' machine Monster B.C. (the former Brodus Clay). With "Showtime" Stevie Stamos and "Big" Jym Anderson in his corner (as usual), this match might be an uphill battle for B.C., but the ‘Saurus isn't just bringing the noise and the funk on Saturday – he's bringing an old friend to watch his back: WWE Hall-Of-Famer Booker T. Can the master of the "Spinaroonie" even the odds on Saturday? If so, THAT'S a victory party I'd love to attend!

Booker's presence on "Wrestling Under The stars III" extends far beyond helping out an old friend. Not only will the former 5-time WCW Champion be a part of the event's gigantic pre-show meet & greet, but he's also bringing one of his top prospects from his Houston-based wrestling school and promotion, "Reality of Wrestling." – Sergei Volkov, whom will face NEW mainstay Romeo Roselli as part of the new working relationship between ROW and Northeast Wrestling's own training center in Bethel, CT (go to Northeastwrestling.com for more information on Booker's unique seminar at the NEW school on 8/3). On each of the last two Dutchesss Stadium events, Romeo has suffered humiliating defeats at the hands of former NY Yankee (and hometown legend) Joe Ausanio. Will this year be his redemption, or can Booker T's gifted rookie embarrass Romeo one more time?

Speaking of Ausanio, he's clearly caught the wrestling bug and once again demanded a match at "Wrestling Under The Stars III." While still inexperienced, Ausanio has all of the natural athletic ability in the world and the full support of his home crowd. Can he surprise his way to another win this year – this time, against the cagey Dan De Man?

It sounds like the makings of a bad joke..."a. overgrown boy scout, a midget and a diva walk into a wrestling ring..." Believe it or not, folks...this scenario will actually happen this Saturday night during one of NEW's most unique tag matches ever. It'll be Northeast Wrestling original Velvet Sky, the ever-enthusiastic "Sure Thing" Marc Shurman and the diminutive Robbie "The Giant" Araujo taking on the silultaneously vicious and delicious Reby Sky, "The Manscout" Jake Manning and Shovelhead Chuck. It'll be great fun for the fans...for the referee, not so much.

From top to bottom, I truly feel that this year's blockbuster at Dutchess Stadium is our most stacked ever. It's a night you'll enjoy, a night you'll love and a night you'll remember next week, next year and many more to come. From behind the microphone, I look forward to experiencing it with all of you.
